Case Study: East Berkshire College

3G Artificial Turf for Multi-use Games

The Langley Campus is the centre for most of the main vocational courses at East Berkshire College with exceptional specialist facilities and resources. It is also home to a £5m Sports Centre, including a gym and indoor sports hall, which serves as a sporting hub for both students and the local community.

The brief was to build a new Multi-use games area featuring a high quality 3G artificial turf playing surface with inlaid line markings for two 5 a side football pitches. A stone foundation with a tarmacadam top layer was engineered to sports performance specifications to provide a consistent and durable sub-base for the artificial turf.

A 4 column LED Floodlighting system was included in the scheme, allowing half pitch illumination and delivering lower running costs. 3m high twin bar fencing with rebound quality panelling to the initial 1.2m adds strength and functionality to the perimeter.
